Friends of the forest

Roots Forest School Alumni Association is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

“We believe that Roots Forest School can guide children to grow in profoundly positive ways and build a solid foundation for lifelong learning.”

Mission

Our goal is to foster that foundation and encourage Roots Forest School Alumni, and their families to continue to connect with each other, themselves, their community, and the world around them.

Stay connected. Get involved.

The Roots Alumni Association is a nonprofit organization that serves to support Roots Forest School by providing volunteer and financial assistance to the school.  Every donation, big or small, has a critical impact on the Roots Forest School’s ability to continue to provide an amazing service to the community and beyond. Your donations provide funds for outdoor equipment, learning materials and resources for the classroom, as well as scholarships. We recognize donations can be financial as well as a gift of precious time.  Volunteers are considered extremely valuable resources for the success of enhancing the Roots Forest School Community.

The Roots Alumni Association serves as an instrument to strengthen alumni families’ connections with the Roots Forest School Community.  It also provides prospective parents and students a window into the lives of our alumni.

My son graduated from Roots in 2021 and my daughter is a current student. I have loved watching them make their way into the forest where they learn, grow, and connect to the world around them. I am thankful for such a wonderful early education opportunity in our community.

My son Max was in the Ponderosa Pines graduating class of 2018.  Roots Forest School has had such a profound impact on our son’s early education as well as our family’s integration into the community.  We are forever grateful.

“We feel lucky to have been able to send both of our girls to Roots Forest School.  The school is a place where learning happens in every activity without the kids realizing they are learning.  Exploration and appreciation of the natural environment are a foundation that the kids carry forward in their home life and share with their community outside of the school.  They come away at the end of a Roots day with energy and curiosity peaked.”

-Caitlin Gustafson, MD, St. Lukes McCall, parent of two Roots alumni
