Roots Forest School Logo

“I had always been curious about the laughter coming from the forest at Ponderosa State Park in McCall. When I was invited to join the board of Roots Forest School and began to volunteer with the Douglas Fir class of 3 and 4 year olds, I soon found out who was having so much fun and why. At Roots each day is an adventure! The young students learn early literacy, math, and science skills, listen to wonderful literature, and engage in problem solving. The ever-changing environment of the park provides a unique opportunity to share, play, and discover while learning new skills such as snowshoeing and cross country skiing. As a retired educator from Barbara Morgan Elementary School, I especially appreciate the high quality of teachers at Roots. Being a Roots board member allows me to support their work to gently instill a respect for our earth and the creatures that inhabit her to these little ones at such an impressionable young age.”
